Travelling to Ny-Ålesund from Longyearbyen 

It is not possible to visit Ny-Ålesund unless you come through a research station or as a invited guest.

Kings Bay AS charters two aircrafts from Lufttransport AS serving up to four flights weekly between Longyearbyen and Ny-Ålesund during the summer season and two flights a week during winter, usually Mondays and Thursdays. Due to the limited capacity of the aircraft, early bookings are recommended. Please notify us in advance about how much luggage you expect to carry with you on the plane to/from Ny-Ålesund. 

Be aware of the fact that unannounced luggage weighing more than 20 kilos will only be given priority if there's capacity to carry the excess weight.

From Norway to Svalbard.

There are daily flights from the Norwegian mainland to Svalbard, except for Saturdays during Winter. The flights are going from Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, to Longyearbyen and the number of flights is depending on the season. The flights are offered by the Norwegian airline SAS Norway. Most of the SAS flights stop in Tromsø before proceeding to Longyearbyen.

We recommend that you travel on flights corresponding with the flights to and from Ny-Ålesund. Some of the departures require an overnight stay in Longyearbyen.
