The Governor has issued information about new demands concerning registration of science activities and permissions for field activities on Svalbard.

The research institutions located on Svalbard have been informed about the new demands on paper. Three points have been given special attention:

1. All projects applying for permission to perform field activities must be registered in the RiS-database operated by the Svalbard Science Forum first.
2. There's a duty to fill out a travel notification to the Governor for everyone travelling outside Management Area 10 (Forvaltningsområde 10).
3. Handling of equipment, supplies and fuel depots is given particular attention.

The new demands have been in force since January 1, 2009.
