The Division Board for Energy, Resources and The Environment of The Research
Council of Norway made a study tour to Tromsø and Svalbard in the period
12. - 15. March, and visiited Ny-Ålesund from 14. - 15. March.

The purpose for the tour was to strengthen the knowledge of the board
when it comes to status, challenges and needs connected to norwegian polar
research through visiting important norwegian research environments.
The board was given a brief about Kings Bay AS and Ny-Ålesund by the director
of Kings Bay AS, Ole Øiseth. They also visited The Norwegian Polar Institut, the
german-french station AWIPEV and The Norwegian Mapping Authority.

Visiting The Mapping Authority, station leader Carl Petter Nielsen gave an
introduction about activity and their new antenna project.
