Sea transport
Ny-Ålesund has modern harbour facilities with a 73 meter long quay and a maximum water depth of 8.5 meters. The pier is accessible from May to October under normal ice conditions. Cargo ships to Ny-Ålesund normally depart from Tromsø in northern Norway with connections to Ny-Ålesund every two to four weeks between May and October. In winter the cargo ship service to Ny-Ålesund is irregular and fully dependant on the ice conditions and demand. Read more about the harbour in Ny-Ålesund and find its regulations here.
