Teisten is a small work boat owned and operated by Kings Bay AS (see specifications). The boat was extended in 2009, and is now 31 feet long and equipped to do smaller scientific operations, transportation and survey in Kongsfjorden and Krossfjorden. As a work boat it will comfortably take 4 persons, plus captain. For transportation Teisten is registered for up to 10 passengers. Safety equipment is available on board (life raft, life belts and survival suits).

The boat can be rented by all scientists visiting Ny-Ålesund. The cost is 550 NOK per hour. After working hours (16:30 pm) and in the weekends, the cost is 900 NOK per hour. This includes captain and fuel. Booking should be done in advance of your visit, please inform about needed equipment/sampling gear. When cancellation is not informed in prior to the scheduled trip, 2 hrs boat rent will be charged.
