February is the "blue" month on Svalbard. The light is now rapidly coming back, and on a cold and clear day like today, the sky is filled with beautiful pastel colours. The temperature is minus 16,5 degrees at the moment. On this picture we can see the airship mast "Amundsenmasta" in the background. |

The Technical Manager of Kings Bay AS, Mr. Arnt-Inge Nesset, has been the driving force when it comes to indoor bandy. He is soon leaving the company, and some "local" girls decided to honour him by entering the gym dressed up like "cheer leaders" with flags and whistles, making a lot of noise and liveliness! |

The monthly temapture on Svalbard for January 2012 was considerably above normal. Ny-Ålesund had -3,6o which is 10,3o above average temperature. We also had the highest precipitation of all the arctic stations with 209,5 mm. On this picture we can see Kings Bay employees trying to defrost a manhole cover after extraordinary circumstances as a result of flow due to heavy rain. |
