Photo: Ole Øiseth For the last few years scouts have come to Ny-Ålesund to do volunteer work. This year they have been painting houses, tidying up in the coal mine area, cleaning windows, picked rocks at the airtrip and done other maintenance work. |

 Photo: Bodil Myklevoll During the summer season there is a hectic period at the harbor. There are cruice calls several days a week and supply vessel once a month. The first huge cruice vessel to arrive this year was Magnifica with 2300 passengers. |
